Italcoat has been carrying out various aluminium surface treatments since 1991. Among the operations it carries out most is painting with simple or more particular coatings. Usually the coatings include lacquers and paints that enhance the intrinsic properties of aluminium and give the metal certain characteristics such as corrosion resistance, suitability for food contact, increased heat exchange and energy recovery, UV resistance.
But how should aluminum be painted? What are the operations to be carried out?
First of all, aluminium sheets are chemically degreased to eliminate any residues from previous processing. Then, they are pre-treated and, only at the end, lacquered on both sides. Obviously, based on the type of coating to be applied, a different pre-treatment will take place. For example, the antibacterial coating made by Italcoat provides a phosphochromatic or chrome free pre-treatment.
Types of Aluminum Painting
The company can supply lacquered aluminum with different types of coating: nanotechnological, hydrophilic, antibacterial and hygroscopic. The first three are mainly used in the HVAC sector, in the production of aluminum fins, radiators and panels for air ventilation systems. Instead, the last one is utilized in the production of rotors used in energy recovery.
In addition to those mentioned, Italcoat can provide coatings for paint aluminium also in the food & beverage, automotive and construction sectors. To have more information, don’t hesitate to contact us!
